Postpartum Home Visists
KINĒCIO Physical Therapy is excited to offer AT HOME Postpartum Physical Therapy visits as part of our Mother & Baby Program! We believe all mothers should have immediate access to pelvic health physical therapy after birth, allowing for better postpartum support, healing, and treatment of pelvic health conditions right away and long term.
Leaving the house with a newborn can feel daunting and disrupt optimal healing and bonding with your baby. Caring for a new baby, managing home life, navigating your own recovery, and preparing to return to work and other activities can be overwhelming. KINĒCIO wants to help reduce this stress and bring healing HOME so you can have your best postpartum experience!
We place mom’s recovery at the forefront. Our initial session could begin as early as 2-4 weeks after birth based on your needs.
Our session begins with YOU, the mom, sharing your birth story! We want to hear your concerns and be able to assess your individual postpartum recovery needs. Every session is one-on-one with a Pelvic Health Specialist in the comfort of your home. A few areas focused on in your customized postpartum recovery plan are:
- Movement & Posture: We teach moms how to safely get in and out of bed, address their posture when caring for baby (lifting, feeding, etc.), how to safely increase activity, and discuss ways to optimize healing in the initial postpartum period. This may include advice on healing perineal tearing, performing diastasis taping, teaching cesarean scar massage, and other healing techniques.
- Manual therapy: We carry with us a portable treatment table so we can attend to early aches and pains right away with safe postpartum manual therapy interventions. Cupping, soft tissue and joint mobilizations, taping, and other hands-on manual techniques are often used.
- Recovery Plan: Waiting 6 weeks to get “cleared” for movement is often too long, there are safe and effective exercises that you can begin in the 2-4 week postpartum timeframe that will assist with recovery! During our visits, moms learn how to reconnect to their diaphragm, core, and pelvic floor with simple exercises that are often overlooked.
Rest, nutrition, hydration, and mental wellbeing are always placed at the forefront of our sessions. When advice on these topics is beyond our scope of education and practice, we have a team of expert postpartum healthcare clinicians available for referral.
At Home Postpartum Physical Therapy visits may be available at little to no cost to you!
Your in-home visits may be covered by certain insurance plans. If you have an insurance plan that falls outside of our current coverage, we can provide you with a super bill so you can request reimbursement for our visit. *If your baby is having trouble with breast or bottle feeding, KINĒCIO Physical Therapy can help! Infants that are struggling with feeding often make clicking noises while feeding, have unsettled behavior during feeds, have poor weight gain, and/or experience gas, colic, hiccups, and reflux.
